Welcome to the new look WMC website.
The old website was in much need of a makeover and had many flaws. It was quite complicated to navigate too. I have tried to make this version as easy to use as possible whilst keeping as much of the functionality as possible.
I thought I will give you a quick run through so you know where things are. As with any website you arrive at the homepage first. Below will be a summary of recent stories that have been posted on the site, but just below this text there will be some links. The ones on the right will display all the other stories that fall into the same category. On the left there is a “Read more” link, click it now.
That's better! I have a bit more room to explain things.
I have managed to transpose the random picture function which should now be on the right of this page. The user login box will disappear once you are logged in, if you have forgotten your password you can use the “Request new password” link to reset your password. If you have not received a password yet the please email me.
Below the picture you may see a poll and below that is a news feed from UK climbing.com. At the top left of the page I have managed to retain the Club Meet and Hut Booking tool to promote the next meet and make visitors aware that the Hut will shortly be unavailable.
Links to all external websites and the gallery will open in a new window, these links are denoted by the
symbol. Two other symbols that appear will be at the bottom of this page. One displays a printer friendly view, the other displays the printer friendly view in pdf format.
This new website has a search function which you can use by clinking the link at the top of every page or the text box on the home page. You can get back to the home page by clicking either "Home", the logo or the "Wolverhampton Mountaineering club" text at the top of the page.
Once you are logged in you will have access to a members only menu on the left and a "My account" link at the very top of the page. Here you can update your details by selecting edit and there is also a "block configuration" area. This allows you to turn off certain functions of the site such as the UKC news feed.
I think that is about all for now. If you get stuck you can email me or use the "Contact us" link.
