There are just short of 100 members currently in the Club. Most are based in or around Wolverhampton, but we have members as far a field as Spain.

· How long has the Club been going then?
The club was formed in 1951, and some of our members can still remember it. The climbing and drinking often go hand in hand, at no point more so than our 50th anniversary dinner in 2001.
This gives the club a great deal of experience - in fact numerous members have gone on to become Mountain Guides or work in climbing related industries, so we can call a great deal of resource if required.
We have a written history of the club, called Mountain Memories by Hilary Clark. It is listed by Amazon, but demand has been particularly high recently and stocks are very low.

· Does it matter if I don't climb?
Not in the slightest. Most new members don't climb when they join the club - but enjoy trying new things.
In any case, climbing is not the only sport the club likes to take part in. We have a number of keen cyclists who try to get out during the week after work, as well as at the weekend.
A number of our members are also cavers (with a number of accolades to their name). They have made up the contingents of large international expeditions and very active in the UK.

It is probably best in the first instance, to pop on a Tuesday night to the New Inn on Salop Street in Wolverhampton initially. Carol is our New Members Secretary, but most of the club members would be happy to help.
We do sometimes have events on a Tuesday at the New Inn. These include slide shows, picture galleries, or kit sales.

· Who organises all these events then?
All the events are organised by the committee, which is made up of: Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Hut Warden, Outside Meets Secretary, Indoor Meets Secretary, Liaison Officer, Magazine Editor, and Hut Booking Secretary.
If you'd like to contact the committee for any reason, please do not hesitate use the Contact us form on this site.
